According to the official narrative, monitoring metadata is no big deal. But two Stanford University researchers wanted to see how “sensitive” metadata actually was. So they enlisted hundreds of volunteers to install an app called “MetaPhone” on their Androids to pick up that metadata over several months. What they found shocked them.

It’s made of metallic reflective fabric not unlike the protective material used in some layers of firemen’s uniforms. The idea is that the material smears out or otherwise conceals your body’s thermal output and that can confuse overhead surveillance cameras—like those you sometimes see used on late-night cops reality shows.

Turkish channels are being fined for live-streaming the country’s protests

According to a Turkish news site, the country’s broadcasting watchdog, RTUK, has fined several TV channels for their coverage of the Gezi protests. Halk TV, Cem TV, EM TV and Ulusal TV have all been reprimanded for live-streaming content that is "harming the physical, moral and mental development of children and young people."
