* Rest in Peace

An executive who led the Ogilvy & Mather advertising agency in the mid-'70s, succeeding founder David Ogilvy, died Saturday. John Elliott Jr. started work in advertising in 1945 and retired in 1981.

Notable quote: "Big ideas are so hard to recognize, so fragile, so easy to kill. Don't forget that, all of you who don't have them."

Mather was HIS DOG. Don't forget that. He was a card!! Another famous quote, as he was to deliver a client presentation, he walked into a long table full of somber faced men. At the head a guy sat with a bell. He said, you have fifteen minutes, "when I ring the bell...you're done. Doesn't matter what you're saying, when I ring the bell, you're done. Do you have anything to say before you start," he asked Ogilvy.
" Yeah," Ogilvy replied, " ring the bell NOW."
A real power lesson for us all. The one with the power is the one who can walk out of the room without the deal. I was in the audience when he gave that talk.

May his soul rest in peace.

Brilliant Quote, I must say. It's so true about the big idea - difficult to come-up with but easy to kill if one does not see its potential.

Definitely a quote to keep in mind as I begin my innovative journeys.
