Where to Now?
First we had the cell phone, then the Palm, then the Blackberry, then Nokia's Ngage gaming device, now the PSP (which contains video as well).
How do you imagine a 2020 scenario?

Media delivery--in fact this applies to all data delivery, but let's stick to media since that was the point made in the post--will become like electricity is now. It'll stop being encapsulated in specialized devices and devices will just make use of it to enable the functionality they're trying to enable. The classic example of this in the ubiquitous computing world is that of electric motors: at first they were expensive and exotic, so you had one and attached stuff to it. Then they became embedded parts of our tools, so now we have an electric motor in our blender that makes it blend and a motor in our cell phone that makes it vibrate. Media delivery will become like that: it's already a secondary funtion in the PSP and will become less and less of a selling point as time goes on. In 2020 it'll be odd if, during a call to Mom, I CAN'T slide her image from my phone to the desk or the wall to get a better view.
I'm waiting for the day (or year) when I wont have to worry about leaving my phone at home-
