Business Travail III
FC Now reader Gemma Teed writes in this morning to say
The weather is lousy in the UK today, and I've battled through the snow, wind, and rain to make it to my meeting. What's the furthest lengths that FC Now readers have gone to make a meeting? Longest distance? Weirdest form of transport? Most forms of transport? (My record: car, train, two tubes, and a taxi.) Most extreme weather conditions?
As they say, "Neither rain, nor snow, nor sleet, nor hail shall keep the postmen from their appointed rounds." But how far have you gone to participate in a meeting or business event?

hmm, well there have been lots. but generally the worst involve delayed long-haul flights, then getting diverted to another city because of weather, sleeping a couple hours near the airport after waiting in a huge line to get a hotel and meal voucher, finally arriving at the destination so late the I missed the meeting, only to have to turn around and fly home. That was pretty much the worst I've had.
Flew to Paris with wife and newborn in tow for a global meeting.
Called the Paris office on day of meeting to find out which room we were in - was informed that meeting had been moved to German office due to pending French airport strike.
Left wife and newborn in French hotel room, grabbed bag to head to airport to get flight to Germany. Unable to get flight to Germany due to - you guessed it - pending French airport strike.
Net, net - a long haul for no reason, but a great French vacation for the family.
Got some razzing when I got back to the office, but . . .
