In her blog What's Your Brand Mantra?, Jennifer Rice cites a quote from Peter Drucker that suggests that the goal of a company is to create customers. Create or attract. There were no customers fpr copiers intil Xerox created the copier market.

And Jobs and Apple helped create the market for personal computers when most people never knew how essential a computer could be.
