* 1984? No, Animal Farm

I just can't get unstuck on my latest rant about respect, doublespeak and corporate honesty.

This article really took the cake: Tyson Creates Office of Animal Well-being.

What's missing for me is that unlike the PTSA I belonged to in high school, no chickens are represented in the staffing of the office.

The title, Office of Animal Well-being, is a perfect example of Orwell's doublespeak: war is peace, peace is war, etc. They're slaughtering animals, for goodness sake - how is that good for animals' well-being?! Sounds like great PR to me. The bottom line is: if you avoid eating meat, then you support an animal's well-being. Otherwise, it's just window dressing.
